Overview
Mono is an independent editorial platform exploring design, culture, technology, and the people shaping them. The publication wanted an experience that felt closer to a thoughtfully designed magazine than a conventional content platform.
The project focused on giving stories a stronger visual presence while making the growing archive easy to explore. Typography, pacing, imagery, and content hierarchy became the foundation for creating an experience that feels immersive without sacrificing readability.
The Challenge
The existing platform treated every article in much the same way, making the publication feel repetitive despite having a diverse range of stories. Readers needed a stronger sense of discovery and a clearer way to move between different types of content.
The challenge was to create an editorial system that could accommodate long-form writing, visual features, interviews, and shorter stories without losing consistency. Every page needed to feel connected while still giving individual stories their own identity.
The Solution
I created a flexible editorial framework that uses typography, imagery, and spacing to establish a stronger rhythm across the publication. Feature stories receive more visual space, while supporting content remains compact and easy to scan.
The system was designed around reusable layouts that can adapt to different story formats without requiring a completely new design each time. The result is a quieter, more intentional reading experience built around the content itself.
